Sewell Hdmi Over Cat5 Extender, 1080p, 100 Ft. (30 M) Feature :
  • HDMI over Cat5e Sender Unit
  • HDMI over Cat5e Receiver Unit
  • 100 ft. Range with 1080p Signal

  • Defeat the HDMI distance barrier with this extender that allows you to send HDMI over inexpensive Cat5e cable for up to 100 ft (30M).

HDMI over Cat5 Technology and the Limited HDMI Standard

HDMI over Cat5 technology is relatively new and vital to scenarios where high definition digital signals must be extended over distances longer than 16 feet. HDMI's distance spec officially states that, beyond 16 feet, the signal is not guaranteed to perfectly arrive without some sort of active boosting. This booster will overcome this distance limitation while providing a more cost effective cabling solution as well.

Cat5e cable, or ethernet cable, is a fraction of the cost of long HDMI cable, mainly due to the different requirements of building these two different cable types. HDMI cable typically requires much more copper and is much thicker than Cat5e networking cable. Also, many modern buildings these days are already wired with Cat5 cable, making this solution by far the most cost effective and least labor intensive solution available.

    How This Works

This kit comes as a pair, with one sender unit and one receiver unit. Simply connect this pair together with two networking cables: one for the HD signal, and one for data (such as EDID and other control signals). Each set-up requires two lines of Cat5e. Once you've connected your HDMI cables to the sender and receiver boxes, and once your power supply is connected to the receiver box (sender does not require a power adapter), your extension system is ready.
